Over 50,000 people die from brain injuries annually and 75,000 - 95,000 people will be permanently injured this year. 50% of all brain injury cases are caused by motor vehicle accidents. Brain injury is caused by three major factors: Bruising, Tearing, and Swelling. Bruising is caused by the brain hitting against the skull when the body comes to a sudden stop. (i.e. car accidents) Tearing is caused by the head jerking forward and backwards very violently. Swelling is caused by the agents the body sends to a certain part of the body when it is injured.
