ACCESSING YOUR MEDICAL RECORDS
In the state of Pennsylvania, a patient or his
designee, including his
attorney, shall have the right of access to his medical charts and
records
and to obtain photocopies of the same, without the use of a subpoena,
for his own use. The only
time this information may be withheld is if the healthcare provider
believes that the release of the information will cause an adverse
affect on the patent’s health. Additionally,
the health care provider or facility may only charge the amount annually
set by the Secretary of Health of the Common Wealth.
These
amounts are as follows:
